Kathleen Leilani Ja Sook Bergquist

Kathleen Bergquist received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education in 2000 from the College of William and Mary. Her teaching includes the theory and practice of multicultural counselling, social work in a pluralistic society, and minority relations. She has published articles on transnational adoptions (Journal of Asian American Studies, Adoption Quarterly, Journal of Family Social Work) and Asian diasporic studies (Journal of Immigrant and Refugee Services). Her monographs are First Generation Korean Adoptees: Midlife Reflections on Identity and Self (2004); and Expanding the Boundaries of Asian American Studies: Racial and Ethnic Identity Development in Korean Adoptees (2002). She is currently the Vice President of the Organization for Chinese Americans.
