Gary Palmer
Professor, Anthropology & Ethnic Studies UNLV
Gary Palmer received his Ph.D. in Anthropology in 1971 from the University of Minnesota.  His areas of specialization include linguistic and ethnographic research with ethnic communities in the USA.  He has published Languages of Sentiment: Cultural Constructions of Emotional Substrates (John Benjamins, 1999, co-editor), and Toward a Theory of Cultural Linguistics (U Texas P, 1996).  He is currently working here in Las Vegas with native speakers of Filipino (Tagalog), the national language of the Philippines.
