I am a Master’s student in the Department of Anthropology and Ethnic Studies. My current research interests center around issues related to identity and transnationalism in second generation Mexican Americans. Topical concerns include language choice, situational identity, gender roles, agency, and political economy. I have conducted research on identity formation among second generation Mexican immigrants and the language ideologies surrounding English-only language policies. I hope to use my current and future research to expand our knowledge of transnational populations and challenge current myths and stereotypes of Mexican Americans.
