Women's Studies
Career Options for Women's Studies Majors

Women's Studies offers students a broad, interdisciplinary understanding of the ways in which gender interacts with race, age, class, and sexual orientation to shape human consciousness and determine the social, political, and cultural organization of human society throughout history. One recent graduate wrote, "Women's Studies affords students the opportunity to be truly critical--we are allowed the information that had always been kept from us personally and culturally about our lives [as women] and the lives of other who are not white, straight, class-privileged men. What one does with a Women's Studies major is continue asking the questions that get to the heart of matter: 'Who's benefiting from this situation? Who is being hurt? Where am I in all of this?' Knowing how to ask and begin answering these types of questions is useful for every kind of work.

The following job titles are related to the field of Women's Studies. Some may require study beyond the Bachelor of Arts level. This is not a complete list of possible careers for Women's Studies graduates, but simply a list of careers pursued by various Women's Studies graduates.
