Career Options for Foreign Language Majors

Foreign Language is the study of languages other than one's own native tongue. Students of foreign languages seek to develop cultural awareness and understanding, and to improve their ability to communicate. In every area, proficiency in more than one language is becoming increasingly more valuable and necessary.

The following job titles are related to the field of Foreign Languages. Some may require study beyond the Bachelor of Arts level. This is not a complete list of possible careers for Foreign Language graduates, but simply provides suggestions of potential career options. (Phifer, 1987)
