Short Biography:

Iria González-Liaño was born in Spain where she completed her BA and Doctoral courses in Translation and Interpretation at the University of Vigo.

In 2005 she completed a Graduate Concentration Program in Women's Studies at the University of Maine, while teaching Spanish elementary and intermediate courses.  
Since 2006, she is teaching a variety of Spanish-related courses at UNLV. Upper-level courses include, among others, Introduction to Translation, Introduction to Interpreting, Literature and Topics in Hispanic Culture, where she deals with cultural, sociological and media issues in Post-francoist Spain.  

She is an active translator and a member of ATISA (American Translation and Interpreting Studies Association) and LASSO (Linguistic Association of the Southwest).

Publications:
In addition to several conference papers and articles about Translation, Interpreting, Foreign Languages and Galician Literature, she has published the handbook: Inglés marítimo, and has translated several books, including children's literature, art catalogues, university textbooks and tourist guides..

She speaks Spanish, Galician, English and French.
