Biography:
Emi Fujiyama is a Japanese language coordinator for the Japanese
Program in the Department of Foreign Languages. She received her bachelor's
degree from the Illinois State University and master's degree in
Japanese Pedagogy from San Francisco State University. She
did a study on the Japanese and English bilingual children and their
speech development.
Fujiyama has been teaching Japanese since 2000. At UNLV, she
has taught elementary Japanese I and II (JPN113 and JPN114), intermediate
Japanese II (JPN214), third year Japanese I (JPN301) and advance composition
(JPN401). She is the advisor for the Japanese club at UNLV.
Emi Fujiyama was a president of the Southern Nevada Japanese Teachers
Association (SNJTA) from August 2006 to May 2008. SNJTA co-sponsors
the Japanese speech contest in Southern Nevada annually with the Consulate
General of Japan in San Francisco.
