Biography:

Emi Fujiyama is a Japanese language coordinator for the Japanese Program in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She received her Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and her Master's degree in Japanese Pedagogy from San Francisco State University. She wrote her thesis on the Japanese and English bilingual children and their speech development.

Emi Fujiyama has been teaching Japanese since 2000. At UNLV, she has taught Elementary Japanese I and II (JPN113 and JPN114), Intermediate Japanese II (JPN214), Third-year Japanese I (JPN301) and Advance Composition (JPN401). She is also the advisor for the Japanese Language and Culture Club at UNLV.

Emi Fujiyama served as the president of the Southern Nevada Japanese Teachers Association (SNJTA) from August 2006 to May 2008. SNJTA co-sponsors the Japanese Speech Contest in southern Nevada annually with the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco.
