Biography:

Alessandra D'Isanto was born and raised in Milan, Italy. She received her Ph.D. in Foreign Languages and Literatures from IULM University, with a specialization in History and International Relations and a dissertation thesis in Anthropic Geography on the Hispanic-American Community in California. Prior to that, she had obtained a degree in Classics. She began her teaching career in Milan, and then she moved to the United States. Before arriving to UNLV, she taught at Pepperdine University, University of California Los Angeles and California State University Long Beach. She has been active in various community organizations, including the Beverly Hills Lingual Institute, Fondazione Italia, the Italian-American Chamber of Commerce and the Italian Cultural Institute. She has taken part in several projects regarding bilingualism and involving the use of technology in foreign language acquisition. She has taught Greek, Italian, Latin and Spanish language classes at all levels, as well as Italian Cinema, Italian Literature, Italian Civilization and Hispanic-American Literatures courses.
